What is Arbiscan?

What is Arbiscan?
Arbiscan is a block explorer built for Arbitrum.

Arbiscan is the leading block explorer for the Arbitrum network. It allows users to search through dropped, pending, or completed transactions. This service allows users to track their money and transactions.

What is the Arbitrum Network?

Arbitrum one of the leading scaling solutions on Ethereum.

The Arbitrum network was designed to improve performance on Ethereum by allowing users to move activity off the main Ethereum chain and transfer it to any Layer 2 solution, for example, Arbitrum. Layer 2's provide blockchain security similar to Ethereum while also providing users with cheap transactions!

The team behind the Arbitrum network is Offchain Labs.

Why are transactions on Ethereum expensive? Unfortunately, as the Ethereum network gained popularity and more users, transaction fees skyrocketed to never before seen levels.

Many users who wanted to transact on the main Ethereum chain had been priced out and many felt disregarded. This led to other blockchains launching such as Avalanche, Fantom, and many others launching to meet the needs of users.

It's important to acquire new users on Ethereum, but also maintain a low transaction cost to allow them to continue to be apart of the ecosystem. We don't want users to leave or have a negative experience.

One of the easiest ways to see transaction history is on Arbiscan.

Arbiscan the block explorer for Arbitrum

Arbiscan is a block explorer similar to Etherscan. On Arbiscan you can search for data, such as wallet addresses, contracts, blocks, tokens, and offers many other features.

The Arbiscan block explorer is designed for the Arbitrum network exclusively.

You DO NOT have to connect your wallet to Arbiscan to use the service.

Arbiscan provides this valuable data service for FREE to users and developers.

Arbiscan is a reliable source of chain information and is essentially a spinoff of Etherscan 2020 Arb A1 version.

How to use Arbiscan?

Using Arbiscan is easy, first identify what you are looking for. Whether it's a token, block, or check an apps assets, all can be verified on Arbiscan powered by the Arbitrum network.

If it's a simple transaction, copy the transaction hash and paste it into search box in the top left corner and hit enter.

This transaction hash is an example, your transaction hash will be different.

As you can see in the image above, we searched for the transaction hash and this posted.

In the event you want to wanted confirm money was received you would do the same as the above photo. Just take the transaction hash and input it into the search box.

How to add Arbitrum to Metamask?

An easy way to add Arbitrum network is by going to the settings on Metamask and adding the RPC URL below.

Once you've added Arbitrum to your Metamask, you are now able to use any decentralized app on the network.

What apps are on Arbitrum?

Many of your favorite apps are powered by Arbitrum. Some examples include:

  • Uniswap - Decentralize exchange allowing users to trade in any pair.
  • AAVE - Loan platform that allows users to borrow against their crypto.
  • Balancer - Portfolio manager and trading platform.
  • GMX - Decentralized Exchange that allows users to trade up 30x in leverage!
  • Dopex - Purchase options on your favorite crypto's built on Arbitrum!

These apps provide the user with an opportunity to transact cheaply and quickly. The Arbitrum community is very helpful and aims to be the default Layer 2 solution!

Bitcoin on Arbitrum?

After watching my portfolio in usd drop by over 50% in one day I realized it wasn’t usd that is important, it is the btc ratio. You see, I’m holding all altcoins, which help me gain more bitcoin as they rise in price. End of the day, I believe Bitcoin is king. This photo represents Bitcoins ratio to altcoins (seen in the trading chart behind).

One of the most important assets users are looking for is Bitcoin. Unfortunately, the native token isn't available, but you can use Wrapped Bitcoin (WBTC).

Wrapped Bitcoin is becoming more common as users want to use Bitcoin on Ethereum. Many scaling solutions are including it to encourage users to transact on their network.

These contracts follow the price of Bitcoin and originally converted from native Bitcoin to Wrapped Bitcoin.

If you are looking for WBTC you can find it on many exchanges including FTX.

How to move funds to Arbitrum?

Purchasing Ethereum and withdrawing from an exchange seems to be the easiest method currently. However, ever since Arbitrum has launched only few exchanges seem to have allowed the withdrawal function. These include FTX and Binance.

If you would like to fund your Arbitrum wallet we suggest using FTX!

FTX provides investors with records regarding transactions, purchase history, and soon to include the ability to purchase stocks!

Unfortunately, if you primarily do your business on Coinbase, you will have to wait until they upgrade their withdrawal methods. They've stated in the past that they plan to offer it in the future.

Bridging to Arbitrum.

Another way to bridge to Arbitrum, is to use this link to the native Arbitrum Bridge.

It was designed by the Arbitrum team to support subscribers and customers to move funds over in a decentralized way.

Bridging is simple, connect your wallet, choose what asset you want to transfer and complete the transaction! You will have to wait for the transaction to be posted on the Ethereum network before being able to start using the Arbitrum network.

If you don't want to use the native Arbitrum bridge then you can use other decentralized bridges such as Hop Protocol, Synapse, or any other decentralized protocol of your choice.

What's the future of Arbitrum?

The Arbitrum network will continue to offer cheap fees and only become cheaper thanks to upgrades like Arbitrum Nitro.

Currently fees are roughly around .40 cents USD for a simple transfer, but with Arbitrum Nitro the goal is to have fees below .05 cents USD.

Regardless, these fees are absolutely incredible for users looking to maximize their Ethereum spent on transaction costs.

Arbitrum launching a token?

If you've seen coins like Polygon (MATIC) which is another settlement layer option for users. Then you know how quickly the price has risen due to users using the token to transact.

Arbitrum has already hinted at launching their own tokens, so make sure you use Arbitrum to potentially be included in the airdrop.

My recommendation is to use apps as you normally do. Unfortunately in the past, we've seen users aiming to cheat the airdrop. This led teams to increase users activity as criteria for being eligible for airdrops.

Final thoughts

Arbiscan is an important service for Arbitrum networks and users.  Arbiscan provides all the necessary data needed to verify transactions. The best part is it's free to use!

If Arbitrum becomes the leading scaling solution, then we will see more contracts migrate over to link user activity.

It will become a challenge to compete with all the new and exciting solutions, but in the end the community will decide what network they connect to with their dollars.
