NFT's Appear On Reddit!

Welcome to Mason Capital, I’m Mason and today we’re going to talk about how a subreddit just changed the game by rewarding contributors.

The subreddit r/ethfinance a community of Ethereum fans that are up to date on the latest news in Ethereum ecosystem just rewarded top contributors with NFT’s that have recently hit a floor price of 2 ETH or $6,000!

The project EVMavericks was founded by u/etheraider & u/bad_investment, and others from this fantastic subreddit!

So, why did they create this project? Well, it was well said in the initial post created by u/etheraider, “EVMavericks was created as a way immortalize our community and the awesome culture we have built over the years and give us an identity we could build upon and ultimately transform the community, its power and ideals cohesively to be an on-chain force to be reckoned with.

The name EVMavericks was inspired by the Ethereum Virtual Machine moniker.”

The identities of these NFT holders are now forever on the Ethereum blockchain! This makes it extremely easy for users to differentiate one another on social platforms like Twitter!

Here’s an example of the NFT! This was the highest last sale at 4.2 ETH!

These NFT’s are a true example of why people are so interested in owning apart of a collection of a community! Similar to Bored Apes, the EVMaverick community have been following each other and connecting on Twitter. Sure, the majority of talk is on the subreddit, but now it’s much easier to spot a community member with their profile picture.

The distribution method was fantastic, by collecting data from the subreddit they found the top 1200 contributors in a community of 80,000 and offered them a free mint!

These NFT’s come in all kinds of styles, such as Cyberpunk(my favorite), Holy, OG, Zombie, and Matrix. All look dope, maybe time to sweep the floor?

With a 7.5% royalty on sales, they plan to setup a DAO to help build and grow the community.

One of the most interesting comments I’ve seen have come from people who’ve NEVER owned an NFT. Many of the people who received their first NFT, were surprised at how amazing it was to own a piece of art & community!

Many of these members are now interested in NFT’s in general!

Which proves the point, once you own a NFT, you will understand why they’re so popular.

In the past we’ve seen other subreddit’s attempt to reward contributors such as r/ethtrader with tradeable ERC-20 tokens called Donuts.

This unfortunately led to a massive increase in spam on the forum and unnecessary posts. NFT’s may be the key to truly rewarding true contributors.

However, lurkers are also up for consideration such as the raffle for the remaining NFT’s to give to the community. If you didn’t make the list, don’t worry you still can register for the raffle if you commented once on the subreddit prior to 04/15/2022.

Overall, I’m very happy to be apart of the r/ethfinance subreddit, I personally don’t own a EVMaverick, but I’ve joined the raffle to join the EVMaverick holders.

If you are a subreddit thinking of rewarding contributors, consider the route r/ethfinance took.

Special thanks to u/etheraider and everyone in the r/ethfinance community, r/ethfinance gud community!
